About 'Honour a Woman'
Exhibited at Art Space Ballarat, during June - July, 2022, the 13 Moons Collective exhibited works for their group exhibition titled 'Honour a Woman'. We each displayed or preformed works that honoured a woman, or women in our own way. My series honoured the hard work, dedication and kindness of Anne Tudor and her late wife Edie Mayhew, with their efforts involved in creating the Ballarat Dementia Friendly Forest and Sensory Trail. My series of illustrations showcased the beautiful native flora and arthropod species that are found on the trail, and included the smaller species that may go unnoticed. Species are now flourishing, because of the attention the area has undergone, as a result of the establishment of the trail. Anne and Edie's efforts in creating a dementia friendly trail has brought the community closer together and has helped breath life back into the Woowookarung Regional Park.
About 13 Moons Collective
The 13 Moons Collective is a group of 13 Ballarat women, who collectively share an interest in art and creativity.
The collective is made of 13 women, who utilise various media, styles and expressions to create artworks in their own individual style. The number 13, mysterious and magical, represents the number of lunar cycles in a calendar year and every woman’s year.
The collective supports the Honour a Woman movement that works to increase gender equality on Australian honour rolls.
The exhibition was opened by Dr. Niki Vincent (Click the link to the 'Facebook Event Page' for more info.
Dr. Vincent is Victoria’s first Commissioner for Gender Equality in the Public Sector.
